Psychological Assessment
A psychologist interviews the examinee, runs standardized testing where the questions need it, and reports diagnosis, function, and accommodation in a signed report. Insurers and employers order one when mood, behaviour, or cognition, not the body, is what keeps the person from working.

The problem
The mental-health question gets the thinnest file
The referral asks whether a condition exists and whether it limits work. The psychologist receives a letter with no treatment records and an examinee who was never told what the appointment is for.
- Treating-provider notes arrive the day before the interview.
- Medication history is missing, doses included.
- Prior testing exists and nobody attached it for comparison.
What changes
What IMECore does about it
Measurement, not impression
Interview plus standardized instruments for mood, cognition, and behaviour. Scores are reported against norms with validity stated, not implied.
The clinical file, handled narrowly
Counselling notes are requested with scope and cited only where they answer the referral. Sensitive records stay visible to the roles the case allows.
Limits an employer can apply
Cognitive and behavioural limits become concrete accommodations: noise, pace, supervision, and hours, written so an insurer or employer can act on them.

FAQ
Questions people ask
What does a psychologist assess?
Cognition, behaviour, and emotional functioning through interview and standardized testing: attention, memory, processing speed, mood, and the validity of the presentation.
What should an examinee expect?
A conversation about history and daily life, then structured tasks on paper or computer with breaks in between. Giving full effort matters, because the battery checks validity as it goes.
How is this different from a psychiatric assessment?
The psychiatrist is a physician and rules on diagnosis, medication, and medical causation. The psychologist measures function with testing. Many files need both, and the two reports should reference each other.
Can it run by video?
Usually. The interview and most standardized tasks translate to video when the referral allows it and consent and privacy are handled. IMECore confirms the format on the referral before booking.
