Job Site Assessment
An assessor visits the workplace, watches the job being done, and records its physical and environmental demands. Employers order one, sometimes called a job demands analysis (JDA), when the written description is out of date or return-to-work needs real duties matched to measured capacity.
The problem
The description describes a job nobody does any more
The return-to-work meeting opens the job description and nobody at the table recognizes it. Equipment changed, tasks moved, and the restrictions from the capacity evaluation reference duties by name. Matching a person to that page is guesswork with a signature on it.
- Essential and marginal duties blur together on the old description.
- The supervisor and the file disagree about what the job takes.
- Accommodation offers fail because they target tasks the job barely contains.
What changes
What IMECore does about it
The real job, observed
The assessor watches the work, talks to the supervisor, and records tasks, frequencies, and conditions as they are. The report describes the floor, not the binder.
Duties matched to capacity
Each demand sits next to the measured capacity from the person's evaluation. Fit, modified, and unfit duties read as a list instead of an argument.
Limits a supervisor can apply
Restrictions become concrete task assignments with a review date. The supervisor gets duties to roster, not clinical language to interpret.

FAQ
Questions people ask
What happens during the visit?
The assessor tours the workstation, observes the tasks through their cycles, speaks with the supervisor, and records demands, environment, and available modifications. The employee usually walks through a typical shift with them.
How is a JDA different from a PDA?
The names overlap and many assessors use them for the same product. Where they differ, the job site assessment is the visit itself and the PDA is the demands document it produces. IMECore scopes the referral so both sides expect the same deliverable.
Does the injured employee attend?
Often, and it helps: walking the job with the person surfaces which duties worry them and which they already do at home. The visit still goes ahead without them when scheduling does not allow it.
What does the employer receive?
A demands document for the job as observed, a duty-by-duty match against the person's measured capacity, and modification options with review dates. It feeds the accommodation plan directly.

Employers
We arrange fitness-to-work and return-to-work assessments, Functional Capacity Evaluations (Functional Abilities Evaluation or FAE in Ontario), Physical Demands Analyses, and Job Site Assessments. You receive capability and restriction against the duties you named, and the employee is told what the appointment is, who ordered it, and who sees the report.

Physical Demands Analysis
A documented breakdown of what a job physically requires: lifting, carrying, postures, repetition, and environment, measured at the actual workstation. Employers order one before a capacity evaluation, during accommodation, or when the written job description no longer matches the work.

Functional Capacity Evaluation
A clinician works through a standardized set of physical tasks — lifting, carrying, sitting, standing, reaching — and reports what the person can do against the demands of their job. In Ontario the same assessment is called a Functional Abilities Evaluation (FAE). Employers and insurers order it for return-to-work and disability decisions.

Send the referral and the questions. A coordinator confirms the file and what it still needs, then IMECore coordinates the examination and delivers a signed report.
