For examinees

Know what is happening to your file

See your appointment, what to bring, and who has seen your records. Ask a question and get an answer on the record.

The problem

Nobody tells the person being examined anything

You get a letter with a date and an address. You do not know how long it will take, what the doctor already has, what happens if you cannot attend, or who reads the report.

  • You do not know how long the appointment lasts.
  • You do not know what to bring.
  • You cannot reach anyone to move the date.
  • You do not know what records were sent.
  • You do not know who reads the report.

What changes

What IMECore does about it

  • Your appointment, in plain words

Date, address, how long it takes, and what to bring.

  • Move it without a phone tree

Ask for a different date from the portal. You get a written answer and a new date.

  • See what was sent

A list of the record sources the examiner received. Not the clinical contents, the sources.

  • Bring support

Say if you need an interpreter, step-free access, or a support person. The booking accounts for it.

  • Your rights, on the page

What the examination is for, what the examiner can and cannot do, and who receives the report.

  • A record of what you said

Questions you ask and answers you get are kept on the file.

FAQ

Questions people ask

Is the examiner my doctor?

No. An independent medical examiner assesses you and writes a report. They do not treat you and they do not become your doctor.

Can I bring someone with me?

Usually yes, and you should say so in advance. Rules differ by province and by the party that ordered the examination.

Can I get a copy of the report?

That depends on who ordered it and on provincial rules. The portal tells you who to ask.

What happens if I cannot attend?

Tell the coordinator through the portal as early as you can. A late cancellation may carry a fee charged to the party that ordered the examination.

Who sees my medical records?

The examiner, the coordination firm, and the party that ordered the examination. The portal lists the record sources that were sent.
