Psychiatric Assessment

A psychiatrist interviews the examinee, reviews the records, and reports diagnosis, causation, and work capacity from a medical perspective, including the role of medication. Insurers, employers, and counsel order one when the question is a mental disorder and what it means for function.

The problem

The testing is done and the medical question is open

The file holds psychological testing with careful scores and a treatment record with three medication changes. Nobody with prescribing authority has ruled on the diagnosis, whether the medication explains the presentation, or what limits follow medically. The claim waits on a physician's answer.

  • Medication history arrives without doses, dates, or reasons for change.
  • Prior psychiatric opinions exist and nobody attached them for comparison.
  • The referral asks about causation and the reports answer function instead.

What changes

What IMECore does about it

  • A physician's opinion on diagnosis and medication

The psychiatrist rules on what the condition is, what the medication does and does not explain, and what treatment remains. The opinion carries prescribing authority behind it.

  • Function measured alongside

Where the questions need it, the assessment pairs the interview with psychological testing. Diagnosis and measured function arrive in one file that references itself.

  • Causation answered directly

The report separates the medical diagnosis from the causation opinion and the work-capacity opinion. Counsel gets three answers, not one paragraph that blends them.

FAQ

Questions people ask

How is this different from a psychological assessment?

The psychiatrist is a physician and rules on diagnosis, medication, and medical causation. The psychologist measures function with testing. Many files need both, and the two reports should reference each other.

What should an examinee expect?

A conversation about history, symptoms, daily life, and medication, sometimes with structured tasks where the questions need measurement. No treatment or prescription changes happen at the appointment.

Does the psychiatrist change medication?

No. The assessment gives an opinion on the medication regime; the treating doctor keeps prescribing. The report states what the regime explains about the presentation and what remains open.

Can it run by video?

Often. Psychiatric interviews usually run well remotely when the referral allows it and consent and privacy are handled. IMECore confirms the format on the referral before booking.

Refer a case, get back a signed report

Send the referral and the questions. A coordinator confirms the file and what it still needs, then IMECore coordinates the examination and delivers a signed report.
