## How to use it

1. **Enter the exam date.** The booked date, or the date you expect to get.
2. **Add the drafting and review days.** Examiner drafting, internal quality review, and delivery are separate steps.
3. **Enter the date you need it.** The hearing, the filing deadline, or the decision date.
4. **Read the slack.** Green means room. Amber means three days or fewer. Red means it will be late.

## The exam is the short part

The examination itself takes 30 minutes to two hours. The elapsed time is everything around it. In the United States, end-to-end IME turnaround runs two to six weeks, with one to four weeks of that spent on scheduling alone. In British Columbia, booking a specialist can take two to six months, and the report can take a further four to eight weeks after the exam.

## Plan backwards from the date that matters

Most late reports are not late because a step took too long. They are late because nobody counted the steps backwards from the deadline before booking. Do that count first, and the booking conversation changes.

## Where you can actually compress

You rarely shorten the examiner's drafting time. You can shorten the record collection that happens before the exam, the review round-trip afterwards, and the delay between report release and delivery. Those three are administrative, and they are where the days hide.

### How long does an IME report take after the exam?

Work backwards from the date you need the report. In BC, allow two to six months to book a specialist, then four to eight weeks for the report.

### What counts as a working day here?

The tool counts Monday to Friday and skips weekends. It does not know statutory holidays, so add a day or two around them.

Move the exam earlier, ask for a shortened drafting window in writing, or consider a file review while the full examination is booked.
