## How to use it

1. **Pick the specialty.** Orthopaedic, physiatry, neurology, psychiatry, neuropsychology, or occupational.
2. **Pick the report type.** Standard IME, file review, addendum, or rebuttal. Each has its own skeleton.
3. **Toggle the sections you need.** Add or remove causation, apportionment, functional limits, prognosis, and future care.
4. **Copy the markdown.** Paste it into your editor. Each heading carries a prompt and a word-count target.

## Why a template beats a blank page

Most reports miss the same thing: a question asked but not answered, a finding described but not measured, or a claim made without a citation. A skeleton forces you to put each piece in the same place every time, so the reviewer does not hunt for it. The word targets keep each section proportionate. The discussion is longer than the history because the reasoning matters more than the story.

## How specialty changes the exam section

An orthopaedic report measures range with a goniometer and names the special test. A psychiatric report records the mental status. A neuropsychological report lists the tests, the scaled scores, and the validity indicators. The template swaps that prompt so the examiner knows what the reader expects to see, rather than writing a generic examination block that fits no specialty.

## File review, addendum, and rebuttal are not short IMEs

A file review states what you can and cannot answer without an exam. An addendum names the new material and whether it changes the prior opinion. A rebuttal answers point by point and then gives an independent view that stands without the other report. Each has a different risk. The template keeps you from writing one as if it were the other.
