## The file travels by email, again

You email the records as attachments. The examiner cannot open them. You send them again. The referrer calls to ask where the file is, and you read your sent mail back to them. Every copy is another place the file lives.

## How it runs

1. **Invite the examiner.** Assign the examiner and share the portal link. The case material loads from the single record set.
2. **Hold the exam.** The examiner reviews the records, holds the exam, and starts the report from the same portal.
3. **Release the report.** On sign-off, the portal shows the report to the referrer. Privileged material stays out of the examiner view by default.
4. **Close the loop.** The referrer downloads the report and the exhibit index. Access and delivery are recorded on the case.

## Questions people ask

### Does the portal replace email?

For the examination material, yes. The portal is the single place the examiner opens the file. Email is still used for notifications and for instructions.

### Who decides what the examiner can see?

Your workspace. Privileged and instructing material sits in a class the examiner portal does not show, unless you change that for the case.

### What replaces status calls?

The referrer view. It shows which record sources have arrived, the booked exam date, and the report stage, without a phone call.

### Is the file secure?

Access is by named login or scoped link, governed by workspace roles. Every access to PHI is logged. The file does not travel as email attachments.

### Does IMECore decide when to release the report?

No. The reviewer and the examiner approve the report. The portal only shows the report after a person releases it.
